Wayback Machine: Internet Archive

Wayback Machine is a web archive that shows recorded views of websites from past dates.
When you want to examine the designs of a website from previous years, you can query it via web.archive.org. However, not every website may be archived on the Wayback Machine.
A Backup Tool at a Point in Time
If you no longer have an image you published on your website in previous years, it might have been recorded and stored on the Wayback Machine. This way, you can regain access to the image you want to reuse.
Similarly, you can access other data from your website’s earlier stages, like text, video, or design details.
Amount of Views Based on Website Authority
The higher the authority of the website and the more recognized it is, the more snapshots the Wayback Machine will capture.
As shown in the images below, the internet archive tool also indicates how many screenshots were taken of the website between the dates it discovered them.
For example, the little-known website wordsfromlife.com might have 2-3 snapshots taken in a month, while apple.com could have several snapshots listed, even within a single day.
The website wordsfromlife.com has had 26 screenshots recorded between September 13, 2013, and January 1, 2025.

apple.com has had 645,459 screenshots recorded between October 22, 1996, and February 20, 2025.

Color Meanings of Snapshot Points
On the calendar, there are three colors in the points: green, blue, and orange. Blue represents pages that are directly opened (200 response code), green indicates redirects (3xx response code), and orange represents deleted pages (4xx response code).
